Myron Scott Wright, Esq. is a leading expert in the aviation industry with a special interest in UAS and UAM.
Before retiring from UPS Airlines after 37 years of service, Myron was the founder and first president of UPS Flight Forward Inc., a UPS subsidiary focused entirely on UAS. Myron incorporated UPS Flight Forward on June 14, 2019 to manage the company’s drone operations and hold the company’s Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate (the first Standard Part 135 UAS Air Carrier certificate for UAS in US history).
Myron played a key role in partnering with the FAA and NCDOT on the Integration Pilot Program (IPP) in North Carolina, with the KSDOT for the Kansas IPP, and the City of San Diego for the San Diego IPP, three of only nine FAA locations for UAS testing in the US. Participation in the IPPs led to the decision to form the Flight Forward subsidiary and apply for the Standard Part 135 Air Carrier certificate. UPS Flight Forward also partnered with the FAA in a PSP (Partnership for Safety Program) to operate in Florida and deliver prescription medication to the largest retirement community in the US during the COVID pandemic to allow this vulnerable population to remain healthy at home. On March 26, 2019, UPSFF made history by launching the first revenue drone flight and regular UAS medical delivery service in the US at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, NC.
Prior to his leadership role at UPS Flight Forward, Myron’s 37-year career at UPS has allowed him to support various areas within the company – operations, training, quality control, industrial engineering, buildings and facilities, project management, finance, and most recently as an attorney for UPS Airlines. Myron also led many other high-profile projects, like the design and build of UPS Airline’s Global Operation Center, the development of Data Capture (smart labels used on packages for automated sorting, routing, and tracking), and several air hub capacity expansions (including UPS’s first automated facility). In 2016, Myron began to support UPS’s Advanced Technology Group (ATG) as it developed the company’s UAS strategy. After time spent supporting ATG in a legal and regulatory capacity as UPS’s only UAS attorney, Myron eventually moved to the group in an official role and founded UPSFF.
